WHO WE ARE

CHELSEA RICHARDSON

PRINCIPAL, VICE PRESIDENT

A creator, a designer, a doer, a problem solver, and an accomplished writer.

With her 20-plus-year background in the profession, Chelsea has been involved with each of the studio’s projects since she joined the firm in 2005.

Growing up visiting her dad's construction sites and walking model homes for fun, she saw firsthand how mindful details impact real people every day. This lifelong exposure fuels her drive to design communities with heart.

Chelsea helps articulate each project's unique vision through infusion of JD+A's signature Red Bench ethos - as exemplified in their award-winning Livable Design™ Certified Agrihood Cannery project in Davis, CA. She seeks to capture and articulate the vision, character, texture, and brand of communities through a process she has developed called the SOUL Story Framework. An avid learner, Chelsea is constantly expanding her knowledge, whether exploring the beauty of old buildings, taking an online course, or staying on top of the latest productivity hacks and tech trends. She also loves helping make people's lives better by listening with uncommon care.

Chelsea has served as a judge for various design awards, including the Gold Nugget Awards, and serves on the executive committee of the Building Industry Association Foundation with a mission to create a future-ready homebuilding workforce through training, upskilling, and placement for job seekers and current homebuilding industry professionals.
